Since its establishment, the Isle of Raasay Distillery has brought job opportunities to the island, worked closely with other local businesses and become embedded in the island’s tight-knit community.

Part of the distillery’s ethos is to produce, mature, bottle and market every drop of spirit directly from the island. This seeks to maximise the influence of the island on the spirit, and the distillery on the island.

Operations Lead

We are looking for a friendly and capable individual to join our team at the Isle of Raasay Distillery. The successful candidate will be responsible for the procurement and logistics of all goods relating to bottling and fulfilment operations at the distillery. They will also have primary responsibility for the management of our bottling and fulfilment warehouse and despatch of goods to customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Purchasing & procurement of all goods relating to bottling operation and associated processes
  • Planning bottling operations and ensuring goods required are on-hand and available in the required volumes to ensure product release deadlines are met
  • Overseeing daily bottling operations ensuring specification, quality standards and wastage targets are maintained
  • Overseeing daily picking and packing of direct to consumer, trade and export orders and ensuring despatch deadlines and targets are met
  • Management of the online fulfillment systems
  • Liaising with transport companies to arrange uplift and despatch of outgoing goods to both domestic and international customers, ensuring our customer service commitments are met Control of all goods in, goods out and internal stock movements between the company’s internal and 3rd party warehouses
  • Manage stock control, reconcile with ERP system and lead monthly stock takes
  • Manage storage of goods within the warehouses appropriately and systematically
  • Planning, coordinating and assigning tasks to ensure daily despatch and bottling operation deadlines are met
  • Maintaining documentation and keeping accurate records of bottling and fulfilment facility activities on our ERP system
  • Proactively provide status updates, stock positions, delivery schedules to management team and other stakeholders.
  • Keeping work areas clean and tidy Operate in a safe manner complying with health and safety requirements
Key Skills
  • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to lead a team
  • Clear and confident communicator
  • Ability to accurately complete paperwork, including export documentation for international shipments
  • A clear understanding of health and safety requirements
  • Good IT skills with experience using stock control, ERP, MRP and fulfillment software
  • Basic data analysis & numeracy skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Proactive and personable
  • Proven track record of learning new skills and adapting to change
Qualifications and Experience

Ideally candidates will have:

  • Experience in warehouse management and/or logistics
  • Experience in handling excise controlled goods
  • Experience in purchasing & procurement

Sales Support Executive

As part of our ambitious plans we are also looking to recruit a Sales Support Executive to join our Isle of Raasay Distillery team based in Edinburgh.

We see this as a developing role to grow knowledge and experience of domestic and international sales of single malt whisky and gin with the potential to grow over time into a fully- fledged sales role with lead responsibility over key territories and customers. Support, training and mentoring are part of our approach, so if you have a growth mindset, a can-do attitude and are passionate about pursuing a career in the drinks industry, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Processing of sales orders, invoicing trade customers, completing trade forms and customer portal management
  • Research of sales leads and opportunities across the UK and in our target international markets
  • Database building and management of customers and leads in our CRM database
  • Analysis of customer database to produce reports on customer ordering / re-ordering patterns and trends
  • Work closely with sales team to simulate existing accounts, ensuring consistent re-ordering from existing customers
  • Working with Operations team and external logistics third parties to handle trade customer queries
  • Develop and implement processes for management and segmentation of trade customer database for targeted marketing
  • Execute trade email marketing via Mailchimp or other email marketing software
  • Coordination and management of logistics for tasting events
  • Hosting of in-person and virtual tasting events
  • Representing The Isle of Raasay Distillery at industry events and shows
Key Skills
  • Ideally a university degree or similar
  • An international outlook or a foreign language skill would be great but not essential
  • Passionate about business, sales and growth
  • Numerate, analytical, data driven and inquisitive
  • A keen interest in learning about whisky, gin and the broader drinks industry
  • Great communicator – online and face to face – and a high level of written English
  • Detail-focused and handle pressure well – especially able to handle more than one thing at a time
  • Personable, sociable and not afraid to be bold
  • Comfortable communicating with customers and telling our brand story
  • Comfortable with working in a new company setup
  • Driving license preferred (there may be some travel required to The Isle of Raasay)
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office proficiently
  • Interest in learning how to use R&B Distillers internal ERP, CRM and Sales & Marketing systems and databases
