The award winning Isle of Raasay Distillery is looking for a Head Chef to join the team at Borodale House and develop a food offering that builds on our previous successes.
The distillery has seen significant investment in a new visitor centre and tasting bar in addition to the existing 6 luxury guest bedrooms. Further to this, there are plans to expand the guest accommodation in 2025 taking our overnight guests to thirty two over two phases. The restaurant space boasts one of the best views of any restaurant in Scotland looking out across the Sound of Raasay to the Cuillin mountain range on Skye. This is the perfect location and opportunity for a proactive, creative chef to develop an exciting food offering within an ambitious and growing business. This position is year round and full time.
Our main priority at Borodale House is our customer experience and a quality over quantity ethos. Whilst working closely with the management team, menu development will be the responsibility of the Head Chef within the bounds of using local, sustainable & seasonal produce. This position will be responsible for leading and supporting a kitchen team to deliver a high quality but relaxed evening service consisting of a three course set menu, plus options for snacks and sides through supplements to c.20-35 covers, 5 nights per week. Along with leading a menu of a variety of sharing boards and large and small plates in our distillery bar that pair alongside our whisky, gin and cocktail flights. The head chef will also support the wider kitchen team on the menu development and delivering of breakfast to our overnight guests, 7 days a week.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about developing Borodale House as a dining destination for the long term. The Head Chef will also be involved in the recruitment of the kitchen team and have an input on changes and improvements to the kitchen space ahead of our expansion.
