We recently caught up with Natalie Reid Co-founder of The Gin Cooperative to find out more about their brand new Scottish Gin subscription, and hear why they recommend the classic Clover Club cocktail with our Isle of Raasay Hebridean Gin:
As a small family business, we’ve dedicated the last three years to exploring, discovering and learning more about the wonderful world of Scottish Gin. We currently work with over 80 of Scotland’s leading gin makers and brands, which has provided us with a unique opportunity to visit distilleries, meet the makers, understand, taste and enjoy the fantastic Scottish Gins.
Our new subscription service puts the focus on quality and education – helping others learn about the people, places, and stories behind the bottle, which is why we were delighted to launch with Isle of Raasay Hebridean Gin for our very first subscription box. Co-founder of Isle of Raasay Distillery Alasdair Day kindly presented our exclusive online meet the maker event, providing some fascinating insight into the gin, brand, and business. Despite a power cut on the Isle of Raasay that evening, Alastair stepped in at the last minute and proved to be a fantastic host.
As well as sharing an excellent Scottish Gin and complementary Scottish tonics, we provide our subscribers with tasting notes, suggested serves for a classic G&T and a simple, yet tasty cocktail recipe. We felt the classic Clover Club cocktail worked well with the bold, aromatic, citrus and fruity notes of Isle of Raasay Hebridean Gin. Here’s how you can make it at home…
INGREDIENTS
60ml Gin
25ml Lemon juice
20ml Raspberry sugar syrup
1 Egg white
Fresh Raspberries to garnish
METHOD
Shake the gin, lemon juice, raspberry sugar syrup and egg white vigorously over ice until well chilled and strain into a chilled coupé glass. Garnish with a skewer of fresh raspberries and your Clover Club cocktail is ready.
