As part of this year’s Raasay Whisky, Fire & Song The Donald Black Band visit us at Raasay Distillery for a night of live music.
As a native of Benderloch, Argyll, Donald’s roots are firmly steeped in the West of Scotland Highland Bagpipe and Gaelic tradition, but his repertoire extends well beyond to embrace the idioms of Ireland, Shetland Isles, Nova Scotia and mainstream Scotland. Donald received his first harmonica from his aunt at the tender age of four. He is totally self-taught and with his own unique style which has taken him across the world from Moscow to Kansas City, Chicago to Stornoway.
Donald performs in a very compact three-piece line-up with Màrtainn Skene from Spean Bridge on accordion and keyboard) and Lewis-born Donnie Mackenzie on guitar. This evening of live music will be held in the distillery’s Gathering Room which offers stunning views over to the Isle of Skye.
