Na Sia Single Cask Series - Chinkapin Oak Cask Bottling

Isle of Raasay Hebridean Single Malt

Na Sia Single Cask Series – Through The Ages

Na Sia Single Cask Bottlings demonstrates our six unique Isle of Raasay Single Malt recipe casks.

Virgin Chinkapin Oak Single Cask Bottling

Freshly charred and toasted, these custom made Chinkapin, or Quercus Muehlenbergii American white oak casks are a type of oak native to central and eastern North America.

The fresh charring of the cask brings a rich colour and flavour early on in the maturation process, and the high toast caramelises the natural sugars in the wood. Expect sweet toffee and butterscotch on the nose, with vibrant dark fruit flavours and deep, rich colours at a young age.

Released every 2 years as peated and unpeated spirit.

Virgin Chinkapin Oak Single Cask Bottling Releases

A North American oak, Chinkapin (Quercus muehlenbergii) with a high char and high toast greatly impacts colour & flavour without overpowering the maturing spirit. The high char increases the internal surface area of the cask, allowing more of the spirit to come into contact with the oak, resulting in a much darker colour.

The high toast caramelises the natural sugars in the oak, adding lovely, sweet caramel and smoky barbeque flavours to our spirit.

Capacity: 190 Litres
Oak Variety: Quercus muehlenbergii, American Oak

Na Sia – Our Six Cask Story

Na Sia, meaning ‘The Six’ in Gaelic, represents our unique six cask single malt recipe.

Two Isle of Raasay spirits – peated and unpeated – are matured separately in first fill Rye whiskey, fresh Chinkapin oak and first fill Bordeaux red wine casks. These six recipe casks marry together to create the perfect dram with real elegance, complexity and depth of character.

For each cask type we will release two single cask bottlings – one for the Sláinte Club and one for our Distillery Shop as part of our Na Sia Single Cask Series.
