We’re an enterprising bunch here at Raasay Distillery, so when the festive season approached and we didn’t have a tree handy, we made do with the best materials to hand – casks!
Using around 50 ex-sherry & bourbon casks, we built the tree on the 14th of December, stacking barrels and strapping them together with old cask staves to keep it from being blown over by wintery gusts. Joseph McGowan, Distillery Operator, and Iain Robertson, Head Distiller, constructed it over the course of an evening, with the star made up from broken sherry casks by Lead Tour Guide Calum Gillies.
Seasons Greetings
From all of us here at the distillery, as well as our team in Edinburgh we’d like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year when it comes. We look forward to continuing to share our journey with you into 2019 as our wait until the first Raasay Single Malt becomes ever shorter.
