A whisky encompassing the prowess of Raasay’s mighty volcanic mountain, 66 million years in the making. This third release is crafted with the same dedication, attention to detail; first matured in our ex American Rye Whiskey casks, followed by a second maturation in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez Sherry quarter casks for a truly unique flavour profile. Each edition offers slight points of difference in cask composition or age.

Sherry Quarter Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Peated and unpeated spirit matured first in the strong foundations of our American rye casks with a second maturation in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry quarter casks, this whisky exudes peppery spice, dried sultanas and hints of vanilla with a finish of lingering salty chocolate and a light hint of aromatic wood smoke.

What is Dùn Cana?

‘Dùn’ is Gaelic for an elevated stronghold. The word has been commonly adopted across Scotland in place names such as ‘Dùn’dee, ‘Dùn’keld, ‘Dùn’fermline and ‘Dùn’add in Argyll. Island legend holds that ‘Cana’ was an island warrior who took to the highest point on Raasay for his stronghold and lookout. The island peak named after Cana became ‘Dùn Cana’ – pronounced ‘Doon Caa-nuh’. Dùn Cana offers spectacular views at the summit all the way from Applecross to the Isle of Skye, a ‘must see’ on any visit to Raasay.

Our island is our constant inspiration and feeds the essence of everything we do, so we are honouring our Hebridean home and its iconic mountain with this annual single malt release.
