“This is Advanced Whisky Making” – An Interview with Dave Broom

Earlier this year, we welcomed esteemed whisky writer Dave Broom back to our island warehouse after he officially opened Raasay Distillery back in 2017.

On his first trip back to Raasay, Dave Broom has returned to a warehouse full of Raasay spirit that is well on its way to becoming the first legal Scotch whisky from the Isle of Raasay.

We shared samples of the maturing spirit from our three different cask types as well as four different new-make spirits, including peated and unpeated Raasay spirit.

Commenting on our approach to spirit and casks, he said:

“This for me is really advanced whisky making, and it’s a completely new way of thinking about single malt in Scotland.”⁠

We can’t wait to welcome Dave Broom back in the future.

Open 7 days a week

Tour times:

Thursday- Monday – 11:00, 12.15, 13:45, 15:45, 17:00, 18.00

Tuesday- Wednesday – 11:00, 13:45

Please note that our distillery shop will close at 6pm, but purchases can still be made at the bar until 10pm.
