Enjoy a comprehensive guided tour of our distillery production area with one of our tour guides before returning to our bespoke tasting room to enjoy a Isle of Raasay Distillery tasting in collaboration with Chocolates of Glenshiel, a local chocolate company based in Glen Shiel, near the Isle of Skye. You can enjoy three Isle of Raasay spirits – our Signature Single Malt, current Distillery Exclusive, and Isle of Raasay Gin, accompanied by three handmade chocolates to match each spirit, including a specially commissioned Isle of Raasay Signature Single Malt infused chocolate.

Chocolates of Glenshiel is a Scottish chocolatier founded by Finlay Macdonald in 2016, championing local provenance and boosting the community through employment and sourcing fine local ingredients. We are proud to partner with them through our Whisky and Chocolate Tour & Tasting, a mouth-watering favourite amongst guests!

Duration: 45-60 minutes

Important Booking Information:
  • The last ferry departing the island to the Isle of Skye is at 18:05 (with the exception of a Saturday which has a late sailing of 20:30). As such, the 6pm tour is recommended for those who are staying on the island overnight.
  • Children under the age of 8 are welcome in the visitor centre but are not permitted inside production areas of the distillery. Guide dogs are the only pets allowed within the distillery or visitor centre.
  • Tickets are non-refundable and are subject to our Tour Bookings Terms & Conditions. Please arrive at the distillery at least 5 minutes prior to the start time of your tour.
  • As we are a working distillery there may be some occasions that tours won’t be able to access production areas of the building due to cleaning or maintenance works.
  • Please note that the distillery will not be in production on Saturdays, however you will still be able to go through with a guide.

    Everything about the experience was beautiful! I believe the young lady who presented and gave us the tour was named Alex. I could be mistaken. Anyway, she was very sweet and knowledgeable. I would recommend the short ferry ride to the beautiful island to sip on some whiskey to anyone traveling the Isle of Sky. We had an amazing experience! Hoping the see more option here in the states at some point. :)

    Oh my gosh, I absolutely loved this distillery! The tour was so informative and I learned so much about the process and the amazing family (staff) who make these incredible spirits. And the chocolates they pair with the drinks are simply divine! It was a treat to see dolphins on the ferry ride too. Next time I’m going to make sure to stay overnight in their new cabins. They’re going to be amazing!

    The tasting was very nice, and the whiskies were really good. However, I think the introduction and guided tour could be improved. The guide assigned to us was certainly very friendly, but she spoke too fast, and unless you had excellent English, it was really hard to follow, especially in the noisy areas of the distillery, where you couldn’t understand much. The tour itself was also a bit disappointing; we only saw one room, and the bottling process wasn’t shown because it’s done elsewhere. Overall, I recommend the tour to whisky enthusiasts because the tasting is worth the money, but the tour portion wasn’t that great, in my opinion.

    Alex was a great guide. I enjoyed the whiskies but would have preferred a third one rather than gin. I also found it a bit awkward to be the only person tasting the chocolate — the others only had whisky. There was not room for discussing how the chocolates and drinks complemented each other under these circumstances.

    Interesting and fun and in a stunning setting … drivers drams are a great idea meaning we could take our samples home and not have to worry about driving.
    Only disappointment was they had to stop serving food due to a large group attending earlier and didn’t even have the option of crisps or nuts to tide us over.

    Really lovely distillery in a beautiful setting. We really enjoyed the tour and the whisky and gin. They had run out of chocolates on rhe day we were there so we unfortunately did not get to do the chocolate tasting but the staff very kindly sourced some chocolates for my young nephew who had been a little disappointed after being very excited for the chocolate tasting. Very impressed all round!

    Over the years we have been to quite a few whisky/gin tastings, but this has to be one of the best. Partly the setting and the history, but mainly because of the information supplied at the tasting, having just toured the distillery. As usual, your lean a bit more at every tour, but this was packed with information . But the whole visit is an experience, the ferry, the island and the local hotel so go and enjoy

    However, a note to the owners: you must put a notice on your website explaining that, for religious observances, the entire island beyond the distillery is closed on Sundays. Our tour included children and seniors, none of whom were prepared to have no access to food on the island. Especially when serving hard liquor, some snacks should be available for purchase (the bar was even out of crisps) or a heads-up should be sent to guests who book Sunday tours to pack food.

Our tour guide was new (ours was her first tour) but she knew her information, was well informed and personable.     Loved our tour round the Isle of Raasay distillery. Our guide was very informative providing a brief history about the island and how the distillery came about. There is an option to take away your taking samples if you prefer, which I did, so having the chocolates to try made my experience better üòâ
